Depart from Pokhara to Surkhet by private bus. This is a 16 hour bus ride. A great way to see the landscape of Nepal’s Churia Hills. (option to fly to Nepalgunj/ Surkhet from Kathmandu available.)

After breakfast in Surkhet, we will drive to the put-in at Dhugeshwore, where we will have a night of camping and getting to know your HOC crew.

Within the first half of your Karnali journey, you will experience the thrilling non-stop ride of excitement through Nepal’s “wild west.” Teeming with magnificent canyons, wildlife and indigenous communities of the watershed, you’ll never want to leave. In the latter half of the trip, the voluminous raging river’s momentum slows down with more moderate rapids surrounded by an even more biologically diverse pristine wilderness.

You’re now in the highest elevation of any cetacean habitat in the world! On the opposite side of the take-out is the famous Bardia National park – home of the royal Bengal tiger, one horded rhino, Ganges River dolphin, Asian Elephant and much much more. The Karnali is world renown for her immense beauty as well as the thrill of whitewater and should not be missed.
